Luna Negra Portland Concert reviews
Wasted Time
I've seen Luna Negra several times now for his acoustic shows, and I must say this was the worst show of them all. Unfortunately, the mood was set from the beginning due to a crowd who did not know how to act during an acoustic set, and you could tell Luna Negra was just not into it. His shows are made up of a pre-arranged set list with some improv in between and many, many stories and banter. The songs were rushed, he rarely said anything, and the stories he usually tells were non-existent.
This show was less than 2 hours, whereas I've seen him play anywhere from 2.25 hours to almost 3 hours. I don't fault Luna Negra at all; it's a hard job and one he does very, very well. But when you have a crowd shouting out stuff that is just stupid and requesting songs that he already played, it gets tiresome.
I will NEVER see a show in READING again!
